Dental Surgeries

Bank Chambers Dental Practice

11 Market Square, Buckingham MK18 1NS, UK – 01280 822210

Very efficient and friendly receptionists. Dentist did thorough check and clean without being asked. Excellent value for money. No attempt to bully us in to seeing a dental hygienist. Highly recommend this practice.

Great dentists, always late though!

Meadow Walk Dental Practice

1B Meadow Walk, Buckingham MK18 1RS, UK – 01280 812701

I've been a patient here for over 20 years. I can honestly say I have always found the practice to be highly professional and a friendly place to visit. Visits to the dentist are not one of my favourite pastimes 🤔, but here the experience is conducted with care and understanding. They always fully explain proceedures make you feel at ease. I can't reccomend them to highly. Andy, Buckingham.

Very friendly and helpful. Needed to get in to see a dentist as an out of area patient on holiday. I was expecting this to be difficult to arrange but this practice were so accommodating which I really appreciated.

Buckingham House Dental Practice

7 High St, Buckingham MK18 1NT, UK – 01280 821927

After 25+ years of not seeing a dentist due to being scared (like most) I decided to visit. Receptionist (Kerry) was very helpful and polite, as was the other lady who booked me in. My visit was to get the ball rolling and to look forward to healthier and nicer looking teeth...however as I suffer with chronic anxiety and OCD it was not the greatest visit - the female dentist made constant jokes about pain etc - even though I had told her about my condition. I have spent all night worrying and I have not slept, due to the work that needs doing and the jokey way the dentist was with me (and we wonder why people are scared) - I had to make small talk and reassure myself by being nice to her (even though she made me feel so bad). My anxiety / condition is asking me whether I get the work done at all. If I do go ahead I will ask to see a different, more thoughtful dentist! I did tell the receptionist on the way out about this, I said I assume it was banter but really, its not something people need!

I've always hated visiting the Dentist after some pretty horrific 70s/80s dental experiences; I was traumatised! (Think of the film "The Marathon Man" that's close!) However, Dentist Amajot and Nurse Jess (hope I got your names right, please correct me if I've messed up on that!) have been nothing short of amazing. Kind, gentle, encouraging and funny, they made a very unpleasant extraction sooo much easier with their humour and compassion. Aftercare has been great too, including gently berating me for being a smoker and offering help to quit (hmmmm) Thank you, Amarjot and Jess. I wish you could have been my dentist and nurse when I was a child. Marking you down a bit because you didn't give me a sticker...

The Swan Practice North End Surgery

High St, Buckingham MK18 1NU, UK – 01280 818600

Really gone downhill. Feel processed rather than listened to (a few staff are the exception to this.) Has lost a lot of what made it special.

Used to be very good, but since merging and holding a monopoly in Buckingham it has become difficult to make appointments and sometimes these are changed without notice. It has become very bureaucratic treating people as numbers rather than human beings.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Find Local Churches & Places of Worship

St Peter & St Paul's Church

Castle St, Buckingham MK18 1BS, UK – 01280 821509

This is an amazing parish church. It is really beautiful but what is so special about it is how much people thee care for the community. You can get a free 3-course lunch on Tuesdays! They operate a Foodbank and on Saturday mornings there is a free drop-in 'Coffee Service'. The Ark toddler group sees 60-80 toddlers and their carers every Thursday in term-time. Sundays are great too with different styles of services to suit all tastes. I love the band-led service in the morning for families.

Really welcoming, friendly staff. Not much in the way of history (there wasn't a guidebook and not much to look around). Really nice tea and cake though 🎂☕. 2nd hand book shop nice, good choice of books 📖. There is parking🚘 by the local supermarket. If you are already in the area it's worth stopping by.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Best Chinese Food I've ever had! I had a special fish dish which was recommended to me by a waitress. Even though I didn't think I was hungry enough to finish the whole main course I did not leave a crumb on my plate! My partner had a sweet and sour chicken dish and it was also very good! I highly recommend it!

Food is good, service and staff are excellent. Decor is dated, but that doesn’t detract from the good points. Good veggie options too (there is a separate veggie menu).

Red Chilli Gold

9 High St, Buckingham MK18 1MT, UK – 01280 822226

Went for the Sunday banquet. Fantastic value for money. Good, typical curry house food, but lovely service. I couldn't eat all mine and they gave me the rest in take out trays.

Food was great. Altho the service was prompt and polite, there was no friendliness, no smiles from anyone, was as tho they were going through the motions and didn't want to be there. The seats were worn and ripped, we were sat in the corner by the window. There were splashes all up the wall. The place just looks a bit tired and needs refreshing. Altho seemed clean enough. Unfortunately the service has been described as above the last three times we have been which is not often. Am afraid we wont be going back x

The Buckingham Fort

17 West St, Buckingham MK18 1HE, UK – 01280 822842

Fantastic meal, service very attentive but by no means overbearing. Food just right. Can't move now, too full. Highly recommended.

Amazing food, friendly staff and a local small business, well worth the time and money. Prices are very reasonable.

Nursery and Preschools

The staff go above and beyond for the needs of all the little ones here. I felt so safe dropping of both my daughters here. The kids are engaged in age appropriate activities, nurtured by a caring and family like team and the food is all healthy and freshly prepared on site. Huge garden for the kids to run and play. A manager always available to talk to. A home away from home and they do it so well. Thank you Field House for giving us some wonderful years and memories.

Thornborough Pre-school

The Pavillion, Sir Harry Moore Playing Field,, Back St, Thornborough MK18 2DH, UK – 07814 137265

Wonderful, friendly village preschool set in the Pavilion with fantastic outside space providing lots of opportunity for fresh air and running around, just perfect for my energetic 3 year old!! He settled here so quickly and has established some really strong friendships, he literally cannot wait to get there each morning! The staff are highly experienced, fun, kind and patient and my son adores them all. My younger son is chomping at the bit to join his brother with all the fun as soon as he is old enough. I cannot recommend this fantastic community Preschool highly enough, I feel my boys are very lucky to have such a place to enjoy.

Thornborough Preschool has been fantastic for my son! Situated in a lovely village, with lots of outside space! The staff are very friendly and my son is always coming home having learnt new and wonderful things! He often asks to go on the weekends! I highly recommend!

mrs milne

Today, with my business Immersive Theatres, I delivered a 6m digital planetarium experience to 90 Year 5 pupils at Buckingham Primary School. I was warmly welcomed by the caretaker and teacher and found the hall prepared just as I had requested. The morning was well organised with all groups arriving on time. The excited students enjoyed a rich selection of content: peering up at the planetarium night sky, visiting the International Space Station and joining UK scientists in the search for life in the Solar System and beyond. Thank you Buckingham Primary for a very pleasant visit.
